My Fatherland
Viet Nam, Viet Nam--is my fatherland.
Where I was born,
Spent my childhood for over thirty years.
Many sweet memories with friends,
Family, teachers and schools,
That I've never forgotten in my heart.
Viet Nam, Viet Nam--is my fatherland.
Now, it's far, far away from me,
I had to escape from you.
Though deep inside my heart,
I really did not want to.
For 1975, the communists took over,
My entire fatherland.
With "bloody sea" and concentrated prisons,
With many miserable things happen.
Viet Nam, Viet Nam is my fatherland
Where I am looking forward,
To coming back to see
My old teachers, friends, and neighbors.
Freedom will grow everywhere.

ddo^`ng ba`o co`n ddo^? ma'u, pho+i xu+o+ng,
la`m sao thanh tha?n mu+`ng na(m mo+'i
khi kha('p non so^ng la('m ddoa.n tru+o+`ng!
che^'t cho'c, da^n la`nh oan khua^'t the^'!
tang thu+o+ng dde^'n ca? co? cu`ng ca^y!
thi` to^i xin mu+o+.n va`nh kha(n che^'
dde^? dde^? tang cho dda^'t nu+o+'c na^`y!"
